Arbitrary Ramblings
Stuff to remember
About
Recently WordPress 3.0 was released and I was reading about the new changes to the system. I am always tinkering with technology, so I thought I would start-up a site to play around with the new version and build a centralized repository for my ramblings.
I by no means consider myself a writer. In fact I do not like to write. However, I understand the importance of writing and I know I need the practice. I see writing as a perishable skill and I want to hone my abilities and keep them sharp because most jobs today require “Excellent verbal/ written communication skills.”
Even though this is a personal journal, I plan to write as if I was writing for an audience for two main reasons.
- Most work related writing you will do is catered to an audience. I write manuals and instruction guides at work occasionally and this is another way to keep my skills fresh.
- This journal is public and will likely be read by someone at some point in time so I might as well make sure I can put together a coherent thought.
What to expect…
This is a collective journal of my interests and what I happen to be doing. I have been using OneNote at work to keep snippets of knowledge that I know I will probably forget in the future. I figure I could apply this same concept to this blog so I have a centralized location for ideas and reminders of my goals and tasks.
I often get asked similar questions about specific topics. I figure I could write my thoughts and walkthroughs once and upload it here so the next time I am asked I can just refer them to this site.
What not to expect…
A blog about a specific topic, I designed it to be a digital notebook of sorts. If you read an article on here about a specific topic, don’t expect to see related articles often. I plan to write about whatever strikes my fancy.
A suggestion box. Comments will be enabled, but in all honestly I am not planning this blog to be a service. Your opinions are welcome, but don’t expect me to cater to you.
